University of Rochester: Office of the Provost: University of Rochester Medical Center: School of Medicine and Dentistry: Pathology & Lab MedSalary Range or Pay Grade$220,000-340,000DescriptionThe Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Rochester (URMC) School of Medicine & Dentistry, in Rochester, NY, is currently recruiting for a pathologist to provide coverage on the autopsy service; additional service responsibilities in a surgical subspecialty are possible for interested candidates. The ideal candidate will also have an interest in cardiac pathology.The Department provides a very wide range of services; autopsy volume is currently approximately 225 annually. Surgical pathology is completely subspecialized and accessions 100,000 cases per year. The anatomic pathology division includes more than 40 pathologists.The successful applicant will be expected to participate in a program in applied, translational, or basic research. The Medical Center has a highly collegial environment. There are multiple opportunities for collaborative research and the development of clinical initiatives through interactions with Medical Center faculty.Teaching opportunities are ample: we have an expanding residency program and increasingly popular medical student rotations. We have multiple ACGME-accredited fellowships including forensic pathology (based at the Monroe County Office of the Medical Examiner) as well as non-ACGME-accredited subspecialty fellowship positions in surgical pathology.With more than one million people in the metropolitan area, Rochester, NY offers all the cultural, recreational, and educational amenities of a large city, but with nearby open spaces and lakes providing options for lifestyles from urban to rural, all with easy commutes.
